Community-acquired pneumonia severity: confusion, urea > 7 mmol/L, respiratory rate ≥ 30, BP < 90 systolic or ≤ 60 diastolic, age ≥ 65.

0
0–1: low mortality, outpatient care usually reasonable. 2: consider admission. 3 or more: severe, consider ICU-level assessment.
- Interpretation
- A triage aid for pneumonia disposition, not a substitute for looking at the patient.
- Limitations
- Underweights hypoxia and comorbidity; young patients can score low while being dangerously ill.
